Chris is a force of nature! I walked in this class feeling hesitant about my ability to muster up a good story about myself; I tell other people’s stories for a living, but I never really thought I had what it took to share my own stuff. I overcame this through the help of a patient and deceivingly persuasive teacher. This class helped me rediscover my voice- no small feat!
If you have lived, you have experienced, if you have experienced, you have a story and whether you know it or not, you know how to tell it. Christopher Rivas shows you the way to your tools, your voice, your little bit of magic, to sculpt your experience into a work of art.
Chris created a space where I immediately felt I could crack open my chest and reveal all the dirty organs and gushing blood to the group; through their genuine listening, support, and guided improvement, I became the guide for my own path of healing. Thank you for this power. Thank you for this honor.
Going into Chris’ storytelling class with little expectation, a few nerves, and the desire to dive back into a creative environment I found myself surrounded by a group of interesting and accepting people who welcomed me with open arms. Chris has created an environment that fosters a creative outlet and allows for an exploration of personal truth by making it very clear that he is present and listening, all while teaching the importance of stories in everyday life and giving us the tools to craft our own stories into a final performance that is a true representation of ourselves in that moment. My experience with Chris and this class has opened a new door for me since moving to LA a year ago and I’m grateful for the chance to meet him and the other people in the Storytelling Workshop.
Chris offers a workshop that allows us to peel away the layers of distracting ego we hide behind to reveal our most authentic selves, which is the place where the truth of our stories begin. He guides us fluidly between silent introspection to playful expression to fragile revelations, enabling us to be exposed but unafraid. His workshop is so much more than putting pen to paper because we are all much more than casual dinner party antidotes, and he inspires us to share our truths in the most personal and imaginative way possible.
